Middle
I heard a song once
and it was beautiful
and it was free and it was my dream
I lost my housing at the sweet young
age of fourteen
I heard a song on the radio, it was my dream
I found the value of a song
walking in the rain
cold and alone with no
place to go I found the value
of a song singing to myself
Just make it through the night, keep awake
till the sunlight
It don’t matter who sold 6 million
It don’t matter who made 6 million
What you call success I call excess
What I’d call important is relevance
I heard a song once it was by Husker Du
They tried to sell their songs for
a million dollars
They probably never knew that they kept
one scared kid alive
They traded gold for what they had inside
All my friends now now on TV
All my friends now sold what they love for money
All my friends now are bought and sold so easily
All my friends now think they can
afford not to be free

Armed Gangs
Armed gangs out of (your town here)
Tell the police to go home
No more guns in (your town here)
Tell the police to go home
How many times do I have to get fucked up,
how many times
How many times do we gotta get Jacked up,
Before we realize we all need to be on
the same team
This place used to feel like my home
Now I’m living in an occupied zone
This place used to feel like my home
Now I’m living in an OCCUPIED ZONE
How many times do you gotta get Jacked-up
how many times
How many times do we gotta get jacked up
before we realize we need to be on the same team
MORE COPS IS MORE GUNS IS MORE CRIME IS
MORE VIOLENT DEVASTATION
REMOVAL OF SOMEONE FROM OUR LIVES

Hello: My Name is Whore
Don’t stare at me
Don’t glare at me
I’m not your piece of meat
I’m not your fantasy
Don’t eye me
You make a fool of us
I’m not your anything
I’m not your property
Do we sexualize everything
Because our parents sexualized us?
Did they treat us like meat?
Just like we treat ourselves like meat?
Don’t stare at me
Don’t glare at me
I’m not your piece of meat
I’m not your fantasy
Don’t eye me
You make a fool of us
Love ‘em and leave ‘em
Is no longer just male behavior
Do we sexualize everything
Because we were molested?
Do we treat ourselves like meat
Because we were incested?
Are we just obeying TV
Are we just obeying Advertising
Are we just obeying Dear Abbey
Are we just obeying MTV
Don’t stare at me
Don’t stare at me
I’m not your piece of meat
I’m not your anything.

Famous
I wanna be famous and have my face on TV
I want all my old friends to hate me
I don’t wanna be able to walk down the street
In this town I won’t be around
And you can read all about my life on
the newspaper stand
My agent says you can’t call me back
but you understand
Hey now I’m famous and it really sucks
Hey now I’m famous can you lend me five bucks
Hey now I’m famous when will this all end
Hey now I’m famous and I need a friend

(I didn't write the words to this song but I thought I'd throw in my 3,000,002 cents: In the last two years almost every big city in the US ( and austria and france and germany and england ) has started legislation to outlaw (scapegoat) homelessness. There are still a majority of states in the US with laws making homosexuality illegal. here in the US we just passed up one million prisoners nationally, the majority of those prisoners ( there ) are African American males ( do away with the blacks, homos and homeless, is this starting to sound familiar? ). We are in the mid/late stages of the coming fascist dictatorship. This is the eventual ends of all forms of central government. Maybe it's just me but I think that we have better things to do with our time and energy than write letters to MRR and gossip about who showed up on MTV or who just signed to "corporate fuck records". No punk band is going to spontaneously generate the evolution. change is a lifelong process, made up of all of us. Who cares if "Bad Rancid Day Breaker" sold, think we ( and that includes me ) are just hurt that a connection that we had with a band ( that we owned half of {the connection that is }) got sold to the highest bidder. Life's better down here in the real world anyway. Jeff)

No
I learned a new word today, that word is NO
You don't get all the money I make just cause
you own real estate
You don't get forty hours a week from me
You don't get to make my choices for me
You are only your own authority
You don't get possession of me cuz you got
something I need
You don't get to abuse me at all just cuz you're
big and you think that I'm small
You don't get possession of me just cuz
you got something I need
I learned a new word today, that word is NO.

( Did you ever notice how you're given the choice
between candidate A or B, career A or B, lifestyle
A or B, Reality A or B, way of suriving on the earth,
A or B, but never choices C thru Z..
certainly never NO? -Jeff)

Who Are We Hurtin’ With Our Love
(Words and music by Nancy Delaney)
I’ve heard it many times before
All is fair in love and war
But now I question everything
What together we might bring
What together we might bring
Who are we hurtin’ with our love
Contagious love and secret death
Aren’t we protected by our loving breath
It feels so good can’t we forget the rest
We feels so good can’t we forget the rest
Who are we hurtin’ with our love
I’ve seen it now with my own eyes
How a lovin’ person dies
A new disease amongst us stalks
Aids is not just chicken pox
Aids is not just chicken pox
Who are we hurtin’ with our love
We are all one now nature says
So now we need careful ways
So our love retains its true intent
And nightmare is not how life is spent
Nightmare is not how life is spent
Who are we hurtin’ with our love

( I was thinking about how condoms break sometime and how infrequently I had slept with people I wanted to raise a child with or whom I could accept watching die of AIDS. The TV says take responsibility and I wonder if they meant it.) (We need to be tested to be sure we're not infecting a love one -N)

Circles
I grew up with a kid named Dennis
His mom beat him up so bad
There was nothin’ we could do about it
It happened to his brothers too
As we got older his brothers
Started acting just like his mom
Somehow he knew
He didn’t want to be like that
Later on, I took him to some shows
We saw Fang and the Ramones
We saw Violent Coercion over and over
I have him some acid
I thought it might do him some good
As it already shown me
I didn’t want any part of this sick society
but It didn’t seem to work
I heard he’s training at the police academy
I heard he’s training at the police academy
I heard he’s one of the CONCORD police
Life goes in circles I know,
I just wish they weren’t so ugly
Life goes in circles I know,
I just with they weren’t so stupid
Life goes in circles I know
I just wish they weren’t so brutal
Life goes in circles I know
I just wish they weren’t so fatal

Parking Lots
We need parking lots and we need shopping malls
Otherwise we’ll die
We need more cops and more guns to keep us safe
from armed gangs-Or
we’ll surely die
We need cable TV to keep the kids in line
Turn off our mind-to kill some time
We need nuclear power and children with 6 eyes
We need to mutate-so the species will thrive
We need global welfare, bombs falling everywhere
And peace will come to me there when there’s no
one left to fight anywhere.
And god will roll down from the clouds
and gosh I’ll be so proud
Cuz I’ll be the inner and god will take me
up to heaven for dinner

Stolen² Smiles
A single Solitary smile
That’s what makes it all worthwhile
It makes you stick around for a bit
Keeps you going when you want to quit
It’ll make you drive a thousand miles
I never knew anything that felt this good
It comes in many different styles
And every time you turn the dial
You hear the reasons why you stayed that way
And never say I think I’ll change my style
I never knew anything that felt this good

Song #14
Did we give up our dreams and trade them in
for a 12 pack
Did we give up our dreams and trade them in
for a bag of speed
Were our aspirations too high, was there
something wrong with not wanting work and rent
Were our aspirations too high, was there
something wrong with not wanting a police state
Did we give up our dreams and trade it in
for a bag of weed
Did we give up our dreams and trade them in
for a million cigarettes
Were our aspirations too high, was there
something wrong
with wanting an end to those who abuse their authority
from mom and dad to the president and every cop in between
Did we give up our dreams

Back
So the rent increase has got you down, and you
can’t afford to live in your own home town
Well I bet everybody’s feeling the same way
Say you’re feeling disconnected from the ground,
private properties got you down
Private properties got you shut out of your
own world
I was born here and I’m not going anywhere
I was grown here and I’m not going anywhere
This is my town, this is my ground, going to
take it all back now
And give it away to everybody
Say your boss man had got you down, say her
treats you like some kind of clown
Say he treats you like he owns your soul
Say the tax man has got you down, says he takes
your money, leaves you sitting around
Spends your money on bombs to promote peace
and democracy
I was born here . . .
This land is their land, this land ain’t our land
It’s based on greed and god and stealing
people’s land
It’s intimidation conquest and mutilation
This land was stolen from you and me
This land is their land this land ain’t our land
It was under the guardianship of
the native american
Who knew we belonged to the earth the EARTH DID
NOT BELONG TO THEM
We are merely guardians
The other night dear as I lay sleeping
I dreamt you held me in your arms
But when I broke you were being tortured
With concrete and cars and bombs

( In school they told me about how we took the land from the Indians, and killed a few. They forgot to mention the 90 million slaughtered. They said it was obviously too late to make amends and that it was obviously impossible to set things right. It was the same line of shit they used to justify genociding 90 million and enslaving million of Africans. It's the same line of shit that's used to enslave us. "Sorry I'm just that way I have to steal from, oppress and kill you." This is bullshit and we know it and we accept it because we are addicted to their conveniences. -Jeff)

My Friend II
Moms’ in the kitchen giving her power way to a
bottle of wine
Dad’s in the office giving his power away selling
his time
I didn’t learn shit about life I learned to give
my power away
I learned how to escape I learned to be a slave
Mom’s in the kitchen teaching me about obedience
and battery
Dad’s in the TV room screaming something about
authority
I didn’t learn shit about life I learned how to
get high
I learned how to check out
and I learned how to die
LSD my friend, cocaine and speed my friend, beer
and weed my friend, amphetamines
Coffee and cigarettes and never ending need,
Jack Daniels
and needles and little cotton balls full of speed
My friends pick me up and take me away from my
middle class hell I call home
My friends pick me up and take me away from my
middle class hell I call alone
Thanks for the ride, it’s time to say goodbye
I wanted a way out but I didn’t want to die

The End II
When we’re done cleanin the rubble from the last
wall torn down
When we’re done putting back what we took from
the ground
When the last republican and bureaucrat
and liberal
can admit to being a human being
When the last stubborn men stops refusing
to learn from who he’s met and what he’s seen
There will come a day when there will be
no more enemy, and no one left to hate
And on this day the earth will stand up
and walk away
When the last line on all the maps has been erased
When the last person learns to derive the simple
pleasure, of seeing another’s smiling face
When we lose the reasons for division, and the
separation has gone away,
When we know the love will stay
When all the songs have been heard and all
the books have been read
When all the hate is gone and dead
